Welcome to Mrs. Keaster's Monclova Christian Academy Music Website!
My name is Michelle Keaster. I am the Music Teacher, Choir Director, and Band Director at Monclova Christian Academy. The school year 2020 - 2021 will be my 12th year at MCA. I am so excited that God has led me to the school, the position, and the students. The students are growing in their musicianship and appreciation of the art.
Music and teaching has been a passion of mine since I was a young child. I knew at a very young age that I wanted to be a band director. I acutally think I knew at the age of two that that was a career path that I wanted to take as my parents have a picture of me conducting the radio at that age.
I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus as my personal Lord and Savior at 8. My parents lived their faith every day for their children to see. They were teachers and actively involved in our church where my dad was the Music Minister and my mom was a Sunday School teacher. By profession, they were teachers - my mom Home Economics and my dad a Band Director. (I actually had both of them as my teachers.) So, I know that teaching was in my blood and really didn't even consider another profession.
I received a Bachelor's of Instrumental Music Education with a Vocal Cerification and Bachlor's of Flute Performance from University of Central Missouri. I went on to Wichita State University and completed a Master's in Flute Performance.
I grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and am a HUGE Kansas City Royals fan! (I played in UCM's marching band at the 1985 World Series!) I also love the Kansas City Chiefs - and anything Kansas City.
My husband, Aaron, is a bassist with the Toledo Symphony, a songwriter, an author, and a private bass instructor. Our daughter, Kaelee, is a 6th grader at MCA.
